Devonia's Red Hot Summer  (Rosa)

Rosa was born on the 24th day of June 2014, one of the hottest days of the year, hence the name Red Hot Summer.   Her Mum is Zita (Giselle Veronesi with Devonia) and Dad Devonia's Altivita.   She was one of three puppies, two females and one male. Unfortunately, we lost the male puppy, followed later by one of the female puppies.    We then named her Rosa.    As a young puppy she was very gregarious, absolutely full on and full of life although she was at the time small for her age.   Her coat even as a small puppy was fabulous so we decided to keep her.    It was not long before she had full pigmentation together with black nails.

We took her to training classes and my Grandson Adam had a hand in her training as she was about the right size and weight for him to handle and she adores him, so we are hoping he may have some fun with her in the future in trying out Junior Handling at shows when he is not at school.

I did not show Rosa until she was 10 months old and so far she has exceeded all expectations during the summer.  She received 3 Best Puppy in breed at Championship Shows followed by a Best Bitch in breed at Paignton Championship Show and a Reserve Best Bitch at Welsh Kennel Championship Show.    Following this came the British Bolognese Club Show in September and to my astonishment she received the accolade of BEST IN SHOW at the tender age of 14 months.   The following week we attended Westbury & District Canine Society Show where Rosa had Best of Breed and went on to get Group 4.     Time will tell as to her future progress, but she has certainly made her way into our hearts with her fun loving ways.

We took Rosa over to Belgium on the 14th November to the Eurodogshow held in Kortrijk.   I was a little concerned as to how she would cope as she is still quite young, but to my surprise she was not phased by it at all and went on to win the CAC, CACIB and Best of Breed, beating her Mother who received the Reserve CAC and CACIB.   Both dogs were graded Excellent.   I then took Rosa in the "Ring of Honour" and was really pleased as she strutted her stuff amidst the fanfares and lots of other noise.

Rosa has been eye tested clear and has also had her patella test which also proved clear.   We hope that she will fly the flag for Devonia for a few years to come.
